Indigenous

originating or occurring naturally in a particular place.

Indigenous Community

A group of people bound by their shared ancestral connections to the land on which they live and the resources available there.

Indigenous Reserve

A geographical area allocated, protected, and designated for the use of the population indigenous to that area.

Indigenous Rights

Specific rights for indigenous peoples as determined by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. These aim to ensure the continuation of indigenous culture, and to protect indigenous people from harm, mistreatment, poverty and being forced out of their ancestral lands.
