| Eco-tourism | A sub-industry involving responsible travel to areas of natural interest, supporting the conservation of the natural environment and the well-being of the people local to the area. |
| Empowerment | Authority or power given to someone to be able to do something. |
| Endangered Species | Can be defined as the following: 50-70% population decline; at least 20% of extinction within 20 years or 5 generations; less than 2,500 mature individuals remaining; geographical extent of occurrence less than 5,000 square kilometres; geographical area of occupancy less than 500 square kilometres. |
| Ethno-tourism | Exploration of cultural phenomena from the perspective of the subject(s) of study with minimal predetermined information and guided by questions. Learning about people and their environment through their eyes. |
| Extinct | A species with no remaining species alive anywhere. |
| Extinct in the Wild | A species that only survives in cultivation (for plants) or captivity (for animals), or beyond its established range. |
